"Uh Oh"....

18 months is here and boy has it brought about so many new things so quickly! He just seems so much more content and not getting nearly as tired which is helping him to last through the day better and get lots more playtime!

Complete and Total Satisfaction:
  • Dirt! Shovel! Bucket!
  • Bugs, Birds and Bees! He LOVES wildlife and will "happy scream" when he sees anything that is living! He will actually use his words or signs on many of the creatures. For instance, when he sees any type of bug or spider he does the spider that we do on the song "Itsy Bitsy Spider". So smart!
  • Bee!! So my nature lover, Edward, of course would not only find a bee but pick it up and be super excited about his new find! And not only did this happen once, it's happened twice in the last week....
  • Squirrel at the park adventure--We always try and notice all the wildlife and nature that we can, from falling leaves and pine cones to lizards and squirrels. So we were playing at the park last week and I noticed a squirrel and said "look Edward" and he of course went running after it, I figured the squirrel would jump on a tree and scurry up it, but instead he decided to taunt Edward from tree to ground until we were all about to take an adventure in the nearby creek. Edward would have kept chasing that squirrel til day's end!
  • Light reflecting--Since Edward is noticing so much more, he has been seeing the light come in from windows at different angles and realizing that it can change when he steps to the side or in front of it.
  • "Uh oh"--Has become his new favorite word, sometimes it's really an "Uh oh" and sometimes it's a "no, no" but to him it seems to all be the same....
  • Sweet moments of love--When Edward woke from his nap, he snuggled with me for about 10 minutes, then peeked over to "Max's corner" and saw him and got up and went to snuggle with Max. Gotta love it!

Boyish adventures!

The thing that makes doing a blog so tough, is that so much happens on a dailly basis and I, the mom, can not keep track of it all! Especially being 36 weeks pregnant!! Today's session of blogging will be lots of pictures with short explanations.....

September 22, 2012--Plano Balloon Festival--So fun, and so hot!! Edward really loved his souveneir of a balloon!

Edward's First Time to really Play in the Rain!!
September 29, 2012
He loved running, stomping and playing in the rain! A boy's dream come true! I forgot to put on his cute rainboots, ohh well, we were just living in the moment!

Safari Park in Plano--October 1, 2012
He played so hard!! Climbing, sliding, slipping, jumping, building, riding and kept a smile the entire time! He is so outgoing and I love it!!

Daddy's Big Helper! "Hey Dad, need a hand, I mean foot?" "I got it covered..."

He's a sponge....

I'm loving this stage of Edwards' life! He is learning so much everyday, which, let's be real, can be AMAZING and also TROUBLE!!
Here are some AMAZING things that have been occurring:
  • He's doing lots more signs--socks, shoes, hat, brush teeth, wash hands, and so, so many more!
  • Eating yogurt with a spoon....SUCCESSFULLY!!  It use to get everywhere but in his mouth and now the majority is making it into the target!
  • Song recognition--he is starting to know and recognize songs that we sing at home, library, on his favorite T.V. shows (Sesame street, Mickey Mouse) and in the car. It is so adorable to see him start moving to the song if it has motions (If you're happy and you know it, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Ring around the Rosie) or go try to find it on T.V. if it's on the radio and it belongs to one of his favorite shows!
  • Animal Sounds--This one is my absolute favorite!! He will now bark like a dog (very high pitched bark) when he sees/hears a dog! You can also ask him to make several other animal sounds and he will. He is really good at 'fish' and 'bird' (he signs and "tweets" bird), but we (mom and dad) can also recognize his cow, cat, monkey, owl! It's so wonderful to ask him what sound a certain animal makes and to actually get a response.
  • Body part recognition--He will point out his mouth, eyes, nose and ears without any problem! And in fact, he will point out YOURS too, and he was doing this with daddy one night and poked him in the nose, up the nostril, and made his nose bleed, haha!
And here's the TROUBLE of it all:
  • A smart, outgoing, strong willed toddler can be a handful! Tantrums, kicking, screaming, but all the good makes up for the hard, tough Mommy moments!
Morning Snuggles
One of my most favorite times of the day. He wakes up, I change him and grab his milk and go sit on the couch together in the peace and quiet. No t.v., nothing. I'll talk to him about his night and dreams and tell him "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us Rejoice and be glad in it". This was also something that I was told nearly everyday of my life growing up. I am so blessed!!

 Edward behind the wheel.....Look out!!

Always up to something, usually that smile means something "I'm not suppose to be doing"....

In the dead of night....

August 29--

4:00 p.m-- Edward's demeanor changes from happy to sad and tired....uh ohh....
7:00 p.m--Temperature of 100 degrees
1:00 a.m--Mommy goes to get a crying Edward from his bed
3:00 a.m--Temperature of 104.3--Mommy freaks out, wakes daddy and go to emergency room
at Plano Medical Center. Turns out he had a slight upper respiratory infection. I learned it's ok to alternate tylenol and motrin every 3 hours.

So, this was our very first Emerine Emergency visit, praying it does not happen again!

On a lighter note....Edward had his first day of mother's day out on September 5th at Christ United Methodist Church. He seemed to LOVE it! I am so excited to see what he learns by interacting with children his own age and loving teachers too!

We were in good ole Amarillo over Labor Day weekend and had a fantastic time getting to spend time with Nana, Grandad, Aunt Aften and Uncle Greg! It was while we were there, that I saw Edward stay focused on ONE task for longer than a few minutes...DIGGING! He was completely satsified by just sitting in the dirt with a pail, and shovel and playing for at least 20 minutes!

So Edward is a huge fan of "Signing Time" with Rachel, so we have been practicing some of the signs in our house. Here are just a few that he will do:

  • More
  • Eat
  • Milk
  • Please
  • Thank you
  • Bird
  • Airplane
  • Dog
  • Car
  • Swing
  • Banana
It is truly amazing to see how quickly he learning these days!!

He can also identify by pointing his eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, and nose! Smart boy! He is going to be the best Big Brother!!

"Simon Says".....

"Simon says...." This is what life is like around our house right now! Edward is mimicking everything that we do! Here are some highlights as of recently:
  • Telephone talking
  • "Tickle, tickle, tickle"-- he will actually say these words in his own sort of way and come up and tickle feet, knees, bellies, toes, chins, noses, anything and everything! So stinkin' cute!
  • 'Zerberts'-- you know, blowing on a belly and making a silly noise, he does this, but usually on my thigh (since my belly is somewhat busy right now :) )
  • Whistling--I'll whistle a note or two and he'll look at me with a puckered up mouth and try to hum what I whistled!!
  • Fish sound--like bubbles
  • Sweeping--More like banging the walls and furniture, but 'hey', it's a start
  • Deodorant--Always fresh and clean!
  • Giving kisses--been doing this for awhile, but it never gets old
  • "Ohh man"--Mommy will say this and snap her fingers and Edward will giggle and giggle and do the same by imitation!
  • "No, no, no, no..."--When's he' being silly he will run around "no, no, no, no"....shaking his head side to side. Cute, but is he mocking me?!!
Another huge moment today (August 27, 2012) was him rolling the ball back and forth with me for about 2-3 minutes! It was just an amazing moment!!

Because we are....

I'm setting up this blog, for ME! Someone who has an inevitably bad memory and DOES NOT want to forget all the wonderful things about life! So here we go.....

Here is a brief overview of where life has led us so far...
  • August 15, 2009--Erick and Amber get married
  • March 19, 2011--Erick and Amber give birth to their first son, Edward Vance Emerine, and become "Mommy and Daddy"
  • August 26, 2012--Currently Mommy is 7 months pregnant with "Baby Plum", Edward is a 17 month old ambitious and driven toddler

Vancouver 2012--Nice, NORMAL Vacation--August 9th-16th

  • Pigeons--Fly, pigeons, fly and escape the insanity of a 16 month old chasing you around!
  • Breakfast anyone?--Apparently Edward does not think it is the most important meal of the day, someone forgot to give him the memo....
  • Wedding--A time to unite two that Love one another unconditionally OR a time for a frantic Daddy and Grandaddy to get a child spiffed up for a reception that he could care less about especially since he has a severe case of diaper rash.
  • An endless walk--What's more perfect than a pregnant mother, steadfast father, and an adventurous toddler walking all across a city to the Aquarium? Did I mention I'm pregnant and the walk took a really, really, really long time and along the way we lost Edward's favorite sippy cup?!
  • First dip in the ocean for Edward--No thanks
  • Itty gritty between the toes SAND
  • Public Transportation--Greatness!! Especially with a toddler that loved riding on the buses! Except when Daddy wasn't getting off the bus quickly enough and the stroller got caught between the bus doors! I seriously thought the driver was going to start moving with us half way out the door...Thank goodness for a tough stroller!
  • Classic Fairy Tale ending--Plane snoozing, awww, thank Heavens, but ohh wait he has a very stinky diaper and we are sitting right behind the first class flyers. I'm sure they really enjoyed that 4 hour flight!
