Cold Season--Late December/January 2014

Well here in Amarillo, it is literally "Cold" season, both because of the weather and of the sickness just floating around in the air. Both boys spent the first couple of weeks of 2014 sick--real sick. Edward had a cold turned into an ear ache, and well Eli had RSV. It was tough with sick little guys and not being able to do anything! Needless to say, I am so very thankful, we are all well and back to normal life!

Here are so pretty perfect life moments that have been happening in the Emerine household:

  • Edward's favorite book of December had to be 'The Gingerbread Man'. He loved the easy to follow/catchy rhymes "Run, run fast as you can...." and would always help me when we would get to the part "I'd rather run than be your SNACK", helping with the work 'snack'.
  • Edward asks "Guess what?" sometimes every now and then, but on Jan 7th he asked "Guess What? " and I said "What?" and he answered " I love Eli"! Huge happy mommy moment!!
  • Eli was walking across rooms in early January and now on January 22nd he is walking nearly all the time! We still haven't really put shoes on him, but that is soon to come!
  • Eli loves for me to play chase with him right now, or 'peek a boo' and we had a great game of "give me a kiss" the other day where I'd try to steal a kiss from him and he'd move as quickly as he could away from me. It was so fun, we were both just giggling up a storm!
  • "Somebody toot" were Edward's exact words at the kitchen table, and it was him!
  • Eli no longer wants to be spoon fed by me, he's independent and wants to do it himself!
  • Edward is so funny, sometimes when he is thinking he will place his index finger on his lip and say "I thinking".
  • Eli tooted on Edward's head on January 8th, I was cracking up!
  • Edward will now answer with "Yes Mommy"
  • Edward will state "I go to school" when he feels like he has made an accomplishment, such as naming a letter correctly or making a good choice :)
  • One night we were reading a book with a horse in it, and I mentioned how I thought it would be neat if we could take horse riding lessons someday and he said "I wear cowboy hat". He is super intuitive, especially because the book was not talking about cowboys at all, just about animals on the farm! I love the way he thinks!
  • When the night is coming to a close the word "bath" usually comes out of my mouth and as soon as it does, Eli darts for the bathroom door!
  • We all love the song "Move it!" and especially Eli loves to boogie down!
